Porte Clefs Tableau

This year’s prize has been awarded to John Naylor , of Diploma Unit 16, for his project ‘Bamboo Lakou’.
"Set in the context of Haiti – a country suffering massive deforestation – the project combines the creation of a sustainable bamboo-growing infrastructure with the development of the vernacular ‘Lakou’ communal courtyard typology. The aims of the project are to establish bamboo within the Haitian construction sector, as an earthquake-resistant alternative to concrete, and to set in motion a long-term reforestation strategy."
John Naylor explains: "An exploration of the physical properties of bamboo presented the opportunity to create a new constructional vernacular in Haiti, with bamboo-framed buildings capable of resisting hurricanes and earthquakes. This re-materialization of the country’s construction industry also aims to engender the widespread growth of bamboo – a material with a range of ecological benefits."

Pizzeria Acae, designed by AMI
différents espaces (cuisine, salle vip, terrasse, sanitaires).
Ci
après des visuels du projet imaginé.
Current pizzeria is a former blue contenaire. The previous owners had added a floor and a pizza oven. The new owners have four requirements:
- Located at a crossroads, it must be visible.
- Terraces, yes we could, but we must also ensure the safety of customers who will be a few meters from the road deck busy.
- Terraces, yes we could, but we must also ensure the safety of customers who will be a few meters from the road deck busy.
- Wood
- Modular structure.
We propose to recover the blue metal to make furnitures and other decorative elements.
We respond to customer by: A set of volumes and shapes of roof to represent different spaces (kitchen, vip room, terrace, sanitaries).
The pizza must be good, but also attract customers through a new form, and these paintings held by bamboo poles, visible several meters on the main road along the field. Who will protect from rain and sun.
The abundant use of wood and bamboo in the development, structure but also in the furniture bring warmth and style.
Bamboo complementing wood (okoume, Belinga ,...) to the structure.
The use of panels, flooring and wooden poles, also respond to the main constraint, develop a pizzeria that can be quickly removed and installed elsewhere if they disagree with the mayor who rents the current area at the crossroads Acae.

Citylab Design Studio Unveils Bamboo Lenggong Valley Visitor Center for Malysia

Citylab Design Studio just unveiled their winning proposal for an archaeological visitor centre in Lenggong Valley, Malaysia – the UNESCO World Heritage Site where the skeleton of the 10,000-year-old Perak Man was found (among other artifacts dated from the Paleolithic era to the Bronze Age). The visitor center will be made from bamboo, which can be grown and cultivated on-site, and it will reintroduce heritage tropical forest at the palm oil estate. The project is designed to generate interest towards archaeology among the local community, and it will feature live archaeological excavations and an elevated tropical forest canopy walk.
